About Us
At Whole Chiropractic Healthcare, Dr. Tom Hyland Robertson uses a science-based approach to treatment. He creates a unique care plan for each patient, drawing on a wide variety of chiropractic techniques including Diversified, Activator, Cox/Flexion Distraction, Muscle Energy, Thompson, Spinal Decompression, Active Release, and Acupressure. Dr. Robertson is also trained in physical therapy, nutrition, exercise rehab, acupuncture, and reiki.
Dr. Robertson earned a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from National College of Chiropractic (now National University of Health Sciences) in 2000. He has been practicing chiropractic since 1999, when he participated in a community-based internship program. He also holds undergraduate degrees in biology and human biology from Loyola and NCC. Dr. Robertson is a fully licensed Diplomate of the Maryland Board of Chiropractic and has Physical Therapy privileges in Maryland. He also holds a Certificate in Nutrition from Northwestern Health Sciences University and is a member of the American Chiropractic Association, Maryland Chiropractic Association, and International Association of Yoga Therapists.
What You WON'T Get at Whole Chiropractic
We keep things simple. At Whole Chiropractic, you won't get bounced around to multiple providers—Dr. Robertson will be fully responsible for your care, and he's the only doctor you'll see. We schedule a relatively small number of patients each day so that everyone gets the attention they deserve. We also won't ask you to prepay for a treatment package, since there's no way to predict how your body will respond to care. Most of your care will consist of hands-on therapy rather than "passive modalities." Those types of treatment, including electric muscle stimulation (EMS) and hot or cold packs, have their place; in general, though, they aren't as effective as what you and the doctor can accomplish together.
Dr. Robertson's treatments are time-tested and provide many people with relief they haven't been able to find elsewhere, but patients must also make a commitment to their own health and recognize that achieving and maintaining wellness requires some effort. Although chiropractic care often provides instant pain relief, it's not a quick fix. Underlying problems usually require time to correct—we will support you all the way!
